Using Methods of Production

The Country of Origin labeling (COOL) toolset is designed to allow users to track COOL information from purchase through sale, maintain a traceable audit path for the product, and provide COOL labels to their customers that are item, lot & customer specific.

The Method of Production code forms the first part of the COOL label designations that you build and assign to lots and items (with the country forming the second part of this "mix and match" data set).

Use this option to create a table of useful methods of production to be used in tandem with the COOL country names in order to build your COOL labels. Some sample methods of production can include "Wild Caught Product of", "Farm-Raised Product of", "Imported From", "Processed in", "Packed in", "Hatched in", "Raised in" and "Harvested in". Each method is assigned a two-digit ID code that allows you to more quickly build your COOL strings.

The Method of Production type is used to identify the method of production and country of initial processing, processing, further processing and/or disassembly on the XML import trace document used by Trace. See Using Trace for more information

EXAMPLE: By creating country codes of "ARG" and "USA", and the method of production codes of "Product of" and "Processed in", you can then create a COOL Label for "Product of Argentina, Processed in the USA".

When you first enter the Methods of Production option, a Select An Option window will appear, allowing you to Exit, add a new method of production, print a list of methods of production, sort the table (alphabetically or by ID) or select an existing code in order to make changes or to delete it.
